Adorable Kitty Manipulation Tactics

Do you find yourself staying put when your cat is on your lap, just so you don’t disturb Her Furry Majesty? Are there piles of cat toys under your sofa? If so, your cat may have you trained. Kitties may be small, but they are very good at getting us to pamper them. In fact, Fluffy may have you wrapped around her paws! Here, a Coon Rapids, MN vet lists some cute ways our feline overlords manipulate us.

The Meow

Did you know that cats may have started meowing specifically so they could give us orders? Adult kitties don’t really communicate with one another vocally. They rely on facial expressions, tail position, and body language for that. So why do kitties ‘talk’ to their humans? Fluffy apparently figured out long ago that mimicking the sounds of a human baby is a very, very effective way to get us to feed her, and offer her ear scritches and lap space.

The Purr

Cats have some truly adorable quirks, but the purr may very well be the cutest. These enigmatic little furballs actually vibrate with happiness! As it turns out, kitty purrs actually have some very interesting qualities. They have been shown to promote healing in tissues and improve bone density. And, as anyone with an affectionate cat can tell you, they are also very soothing.

The Leg Rub

Kitties aren’t shy about getting our attention when they want something. One of Fluffy’s best tricks is to rub against our legs. This one comes in very handy when people are cooking things their cats are interested in!

The Wake-Up Call

Every morning, thousands—if not millions—of people are awakened by their feline pals. Kitties have no issues with gently ‘slapping’ their humans in the morning to let them know they want breakfast right meow. This is, of course, incredibly rude of Fluffy. It’s also incredibly effective!

The Look Of Bliss

Cats are very, very good at getting comfortable. Sooner or later, you’ll be faced with the dilemma of having to move your drowsy pet mid-nap. Because Fluffy looks so cute and comfortable, you might decide to just let her be. If your furball happens to be snoozing on your lap, you may find yourself more or less trapped!
