Cats are small, but they are full of cute—and often hilarious—quirks. Our feline friends all have their own unique purrsonalities, but they do share opinions on certain things. Read on as a Coon Rapids, MN vet talks about Fluffy’s pet peeves.
Have you ever dropped a pan in front of your cat, only to have her race out of the room at full speed? Sudden, unexpected noises rank pretty high on the list of things cats hate!
Fluffy takes her beauty rest very seriously. Kitties can spend up to 20 hours a day snoozing. Your cat will take some of her naps on your couch, chair, sofa, or lap, which means that, sooner or later, you’ll need to move her mid-nap. Your sleepy furball may protest with a cute meow of annoyance.
Fido may think car rides are the best thing ever, and could jump for joy when he hears the car keys. Kitties, on the other hand, are often very scared and unhappy in the car, and may cry and complain the entire time. Sorry, Fluffy: coming to see us is in your own best interests!
Many cats love being snuggled, but even the cuddliest furball has rules about when and how they want to be petted or picked up. Too much attention, too little attention, or the wrong kind of attention can all rub Fluffy the wrong way. Literally.
Cats are very independent little furballs. Fluffy wants to do what she wants, when she wants. However, our feline overlords may find themselves barred from jumping on kitchen counters, kept indoors, or plucked off the top of their favorite bookcases. You may also take a dangerous object, such as a piece of plastic, away from your pet. Your kitty may not understand why you aren’t obeying her commands!
Although a few kitties, such as the Bengal, didn’t get this memo, most of our feline friends absolutely hate getting wet. Technically, this may be because water can be dangerous to a small furball, or because wet cat fur gives off a smell that can attract predators. However, we suspect that Fluffy may just know that she doesn’t look her best when she’s sopping wet.
